![]() I had a great time and had I been able to afford a 2nd week, I would have easily welcomed more time there. (Actually, I was the only one travelling solo that I noticed). ![]() This year, I spent a week at Excellence Punta Cana, which is also mostly couples so I will speak to my experience there and would expect to find myself in similar surroundings at Secrets. I don't know how it is yet at Secrets but will find out for myself at the end of January 2015. My question is this though, from all the photos and videos you see of these type of resorts, they're clearly a honeymoon destination and full of couples - and while I have no problem at all with any of that, it's making me wonder if single travellers still have a good time and made to feel welcome or if it would be two weeks of awkwardness in amazing surroundings? I'd appreciate any advice or shared experiences from others who have either been in a similar position or seen how it's been for other lone travellers on this type of holiday? Many thanks :) I'm 40, male and I've travelled before alone many times on city breaks where I'm out and about exploring and happy in all aspects of doing my own thing but this all-inclusive resort based getaway will be something new to me - far more relaxing but I'm greatly attracted to the opulent Mandarin Oriental feel to it, not to mention the considerably warmer weather than back home. Wishing to avoid my first British Christmas alone for quite some time, I'm looking at staying at the soon to be opened Secrets All-Inclusive Resort in Playa Mujeres. ![]()
